Aika Watase (渡 (わた) 瀬 (せ) 愛 (あい) 歌 (か) , Watase Aika^?) also know as Rabuka (ラブカ, Rabuka^?) is a supporting character in Witch Watch series.

She was a warlock known as the Blink Witch (転 (てん) 瞬 (しゅん) の魔 (ま) 女 (じょ) , Tenshun no Majo^?) and one of the antagonists of The Day of the Disaster Arc alongisde Ran, Tokiyo, Komugi and Shikimi.

After her magic was reinicied by Miharu and Nico, Rabuka would become a pure witch and currently studying at Asunaro High School and later ended up joining the student council.

Etymology

• The name Aika means "love/affection/favorite" (愛) (ai) and "song/sing" (歌) (ka).
• Aika's surname Watase means "transit/deliver/migrate" (渡) (wata) and "rapids/torrent/shallows" (瀬) (se).
• Her nickname Rabuka is the Japanese name used for Frilled Shark.

Appearance

Rabuka has two strands in her hair. She wears star-shaped earrings. She usually wears a sweatshirt with white stripes and three pins. This sweatshirt does not cover the abdomen area.

She wears a plaid skirt and tights with flower decorations and comfortable shoes.

Personality

Rabuka has a sarcastic personality. Despite this she also has a vulnerable side as she is afraid of the dark due to a childhood trauma related to her magic.

History

During her childhood, Aika used to be looked down on due to unknowingly causing harm to others. This was diagnosed as Flash Magic and due to the magic she was confined so as not to cause harm to her or others. This caused Aika to feel isolated from the world, until one day when she went to the dentist, a mysterious person would give her a book, this would make Aika read the book feeling identified with the protagonist.

After reading how the protagonist of the book escaped, she would follow her example, feeling freedom for the first time in her life.

Miharu Kiryu

Miharu and Rabuka would meet after the fight between Ran and Morihito where both would show hostility for being from enemy sides. Some time later, both would face each other in a fight where despite starting having the advantage, Rabuka would lose after Miharu with the help of Fran and Jekyll would learn how her magic worked, during their fight Rabuka would tell her past to Miharu who would pity her for living similar situations. Rabuka and Miharu would keep in touch since then, Miharu being a fundamental part for Rabuka to want to preserve her magic and help other people also helping her enter Asunaro High School. Currently both are good friends.

Furan Tsugihagi

Furan and Rabuka would meet during Miharu and her's fight where Rabuka would cut Furan in half. Later, when Rabuka would enter Asunaro High School, she and Furan would become classmates generating a tense atmosphere due to their past confrontation, currently both get along cordially.

Abilities

• Flash Magic: Allows it to emit beams of energy faster than the blink of an eye by actually blinking.
• Drawing: Rabuka is skilled at drawing, as she "doodles" in her notebook.

Equipment

• Katana: Rabuka carries a katana with her, which she uses to make people believe she is performing a iaido slash, causing high damage. This Katana also works as a broom so she can fly with it.

Trivia

• Although her first appearance is in Chapter 82, her nickname "Rabuka" was not revealed until Chapter 116.
• Her real name Aika was revealed in chapter 117 and her last name Watase was revealed in chapter 147.
• She likes anime, manga, comics and drawing in general.
