Furan Tsugihagi (次 (つぎ) 萩 (はぎ) 不 (ふ) 乱 (らん) , Tsugihagi Furan^?) is a supporting character in Witch Watch series.

She's a student at Magani Middle School along her best friends Jekyll and Miharu. Later, together with the aforementioned, they would begin to study at Asunaro High School.

Etymology

• The name Furan means "disturbance" (不乱).
• Furan's surname Tsugihagi means "next/sequence" (次) (tsugi) and "bush clover" (萩) (hagi).
  • Tsugihagi can also be read to mean "patchwork", which may reference her Frankenstein inspiration.

Appearance

Fran has bi-colored hair and wears an eyepatch over her left eye. She wears Miharu and Rui's middle school uniform and later wore the Asunaro High School uniform.

The robot would be specifically designed to look like the real Fran, however, she does not have the eye patch. This patch is used since Fran forgot to sew the artificial skin on her eye causing her to wear a patch to hide it.

Personality

Fran is curious about research and experiments. She is often portrayed as a mad scientist conducting experiments on everything she sees even if it may cause her great harm. Furan avoids showing up herself because of her insecurity about her childish voice. Aside from that, her sense of embarrassment doesn't apply for her robot duplicate when she can freely expose its boy without any issue.

History

Because her dream is to build a fully automated robot so she built a robot to test it. After a certain time, Fran got bored with school and began to use her automatic robot to attend classes for her.

Miharu Kiryu

Fran and Miharu had a good relationship at first, as they both considered themselves odd people. From that moment on, along with Jekyll, the three of them would stick together and support each other through all their problems, even if it put them in danger (like the time Furan and Jekyll rescued Miharu from being killed by Rabuka). They are two very good friends, with Miharu and Jekyll being the only people who know about Fran's complex with her voice.

Rui Fujiki

Like Miharu, Fran bonded with Jekyll due to being seen as outcasts themselves, leading the three to become friends. Furan and Rui are close friends who support each other despite their different personalities.

Fran would meet Rabuka during her fight with Miharu where she along with Jekyll would save him from being killed by her, Fran and Jekyll would act as decoys while Miharu found Rabuka's weak point, which they would end up achieving. Due to that event, Fran would have a resentment towards Rabuka when she decided to study in the same high school as Fran, Jekyll and Miharu, where Fran and she would get along badly using Miharu as an intermediary between them. With time and Rabuka's new life change, she and Fran began to get along better.
