Ibuki Wakatsuki (若 (わか) 月 (つき) 伊 (い) 吹 (ぶき) , Wakatsuki Ibuki^?) is a supporting character in Witch Watch series.

She's a witch known as the Oracle Witch (予 (よ) 言 (げん) の魔 (ま) 女 (じょ) , Yogen no Majo^?) and Nico's mother. She's an ally of the Otogi Family to whom she usually sends prophecies to protect Nico.

Etymology

• The name Ibuki means "that one" (伊) (i) and "blow/breathe/emit/smoke" (吹) (buki).
• Ibuki's surname Wakatsuki means "young/immature" (若) (waka) and "moon" (月) (tsuki).

Appearance

Ibuki is a tall young woman with purple (pink in the anime) hair. She usually wears linen dresses, although she normally wears formal clothes. During her youth, she used to tie her hair up.

Personality

Ibuki is a kind person who tries to help anyone no matter if they are strangers. This kind attitude has earned her the respect of several young witches like Momochi and Chami who aspire to be like her.

History

Twenty years before the current events, Ibuki would meet Reiji, Kakuraibo, Taiga and Kuon on a mission to prevent Jura's resurrection.

Ibuki would try to spend her youth with humans until she would meet one and marry him, having a daughter named Nico.

Her husband leaves her when he sees that his daughter is a witch, so she would create Nico alone. Seeing that Nico had more magic than she could control, she would take her to Yuzenkyo, where Nico would train her magic there.

Years later she would have a prophecy where they would try to kidnap Nico due to her status as the Witch of Thousands, leading her to send Nico to live with the son of her old neighbor, Morihito, so he would become her familiar. She would stay in Yusenkyo to train and gather magic power to protect Nico from the prophecy.

Through letters, Ibuki would be sending prophecies to Morihito so that he would take care of Nico. A bit later, she would send Kanshi as well to take care of her daughter as her familiar.

Ibuki would send Morihito the Dogs and Raindrops prophecy and warning him that the enemy was in their school.

After a while she would send another prophecy where they should travel to a town to get a weapon needed to protect Nico.

When Momo arrives in Yuzenkyo, Ibuki helps her with her witch training.

Ibuki loves and protects her daughter from all danger by giving her a spell to warn her against warlocks. Despite not being with her all the time, Ibuki tries to communicate and help as much as she can.

The two met on a mission in their youth. Later, when they had both made families of their own, they would meet again as neighbors resulting in their children becoming friends. Ibuki and Reiji trust each other.

Abilities

• Prophetic Magic: Ibuki has the ability to obtain prophecies, these prophecies are accurate. Although their predictions are highly accurate, they are rare and require great concentration.

Equipment

• The Mugen Arimoto Poetry Collection: It is a book used by Ibuki to obtain the prophecies. The book recites numbers which work as coordinates indicating the page number, line number and the words, putting these data together Ibuki can obtain a prophecy. She has had this book since she was little.

Trivia

• In chapter 1 and first appearance, her hair was revealed to be purple. However, some time later, the anime will change her hair color to pink like her daughter.
