Kakuraibo Ashizukayama (
He's a tengu and Kanshi's father. He's the lord of the mountain where Yuzenkyo is located and the leader of the five great tengu, a small group of tengus living in the Kansai region.
Etymology[]
- The name Kakuraibo means "memorize/awake/learn" (覚) (kaku), "thunder/lightning bolt" (雷) (rai) and "boy/priest" (坊) (bou).
- Kakuraibo's surname Ashizukayama means "reed/bullrush" (芦) (ashi), "hillock/mound" (塚) (zuka) and "mountain" (山) (yama).
- His previous name Kangen means "oversee/rule/administer" (監) (kan) and "beginning/origin" (元) (gen).
- Kakuraibo's previous surname Kazamatsuri means "wind/way/blaster/method" (風) (kaza) and "festival/ritual/celebrate/worship" (祭) (matsuri).
Appearance[]
Kakuraibo is an elderly man showing off his light colored hair. His long hair is combed back. He usually wears a yukata with a diamond pattern.
In the past he used to dress in the typical tengu attire, as well as having his hair combed back leaving several spikes. It would later be revealed that Kakuraibo lost a leg during Jeanne D'Arc's attack, so from then on he would use a prosthetic leg, hiding it from Kanshi.
Personality[]
Kakuraibo is a wise person with a strength respected by several tengu but like his ancestors he has a hatred towards ogres due to their past rivalry. He hated what he would instill in his son. Although he hates ogres in general, he believes that he should put that rivalry behind him by telling Kanshi to form his own opinion of them. According to his wife, Kakuraibo doesn't say nice things very often.
Kakuraibo is proud to be a tengu, which is why he has worked so hard on his training and that of his son, whom he trains as his successor.
History[]
Kangen is a tengu belonging to the Kazamatsuri Family, a tengu clan and considered one of the strongest tengu. During his childhood, he would meet Reiji Otogi. Later, he became the lord of the mountain, in this time, he would change his name to Kakuraibo Ashizukayama.
Twenty years before the current events, Kakuraibo would meet Ibuki, Taiga and Kuon who along with Reiji would go on a mission to stop Jura's resurrection.[3]
At some point, he become in the leader of The Five Great Tengu.
At some point, Kakuraibo married and would have Kanshi who would become one of the most powerful tengus, Kakuraibo would train him from a young age and instill in him all his wisdom about the abilities of the tengu as well as his hatred of ogres.
Years later, Kakuraibo, his wife and Kanshi would have a meeting where Kanshi was informed that he would go live at the Otogi's house and that he would share the mission of protecting Nico with an ogre, at that moment when he saw the thought of Kanshi, Kakuraibo mentioned that it was a mistake to instill his thought of ogres in Kanshi and that he will try to get along with the ogre wishing him good luck in his mission.

Kanshi Kazamatsuri[]
Despite not telling him often, Kakuraibo trusts in Kanshi's abilities considering him one of the strongest tengus he has ever met. Kakuraibo loves his son and would do anything for his son even though he doesn't show his paternal love very often.

Reiji Otogi[]
Kakuraibo and Reiji have known each other since they were young, as they both went on several missions together. They used to argue because they both belonged to conflicting races, which made it difficult for them to live together. According to Kuon, despite their rivalry, they both trusted each other's abilities.
Despite the hatred between the tengu and ogres, Kakuraibo would decide to send Kanshi to the Otogi's household knowing that it would help him improve his skills, telling Kanshi that he must break the hatred between both races showing that despite their rivalry he still trusted Reiji.

Abilities[]
- Wind Magic: As a Tengu, Kakuraibo is able to use magic to control the wind.
- Wind Blast: Kakuraibo summons a powerful blast of wind.
Trivia[]
- Although he was mentioned in Chapter 9, his name was revealed until Chapter 79 and in Chapter 120 his full appearance would be revealed.
- He's a big fan of Kimetsu no Yaiba series and his favorite character is Hantengu (because he's half tengu).[4][5]
