Kanshi Kazamatsuri (風 (かざ) 祭 (まつり) 監 (かん) 志 (し) , Kazamatsuri Kanshi^?) is a major character in Witch Watch series.

He's Nico's childhood friend during her witch training. He's a tengu considered one of the best of his generation. He is currently Nico's familiar along with Morihito, Keigo and Miharu.

Etymology

• The name Kanshi means "supervision" (監志) (kanshi).
• Kanshi's surname Kazamatsuri means "wind/way/blaster/method" (風) (kaza) and "festival/ritual/celebrate/worship" (祭) (matsuri).

Appearance

Kanshi usually wears a long-sleeved shirt with shorts and gettas.

Personality

He tends to see more about his own well-being than that of others, despite that he loves his friends very much, supporting them in whatever they need.

Following the nature of tengus, Kanshi is a kind person with great social skills, being able to create relationships with people he just met that same day. His social skills allow him to socialize with anyone, so he sometimes goes on dates.

He is considered a greedy person since he always wants to get money to spend so he usually has several part-time jobs.

He is a lazy person since he always tends to avoid doing things, so Morihito usually forces him to do his tasks.

Kanshi usually believes himself to be the most important person in the place, an example of this is when Miharu moved in with them naming himself the manager of the house after Morihito.

History

Kan is the son of Kakuraibo, one of the heirs of the five great tengu.

Kanshi grew up in the mountains with his father, one day he met Nico who trained her magic and they became friends. Time after Nico left for her hometown he would have a debt which Ibuki would pay however Kanshi would have to travel and find Nico and become her familiar to protect her.

Kakuraibo Ashizukayama

Kanshi trusts and loves his father, not only because he has trained him since he was a child, but because he considers him his teacher and friend. Kanshi usually takes Kakuraibo's opinion very much into account and usually goes out of his way to make him proud.

Friends

Nico Wakatsuki

Nico is Kan's best friend. They both met in the mountains during their training. Since then both have been friends until Nico returned to her hometown. Kanshi would follow her to become her familiar. Kanshi knows about her crush on Morihito so he usually helps her. Kanshi usually acts like her older brother.

Morihito Otogi

Although their first meeting was not the best, they both joined forces to save Nico, from that moment they both began to live together because they are both Nico's familiars. At first they both used to get along badly due to their ancestors since tengus and ogres used to hate each other, thanks to Kanshi's social skills they managed to become friends. Over time, both became friends, making them both trust each other's abilities.

Keigo Magami

Both of them get along well and due to their personalities they can come together to do some activity together although it is likely that they will end up failing like when they started a comedy group together. Kanshi usually drags him in social situations such as dates or gatherings of friends.

Wolf

They don't usually get along due to Wolf's personality.

Nemu Miyao

Kanshi and Nemu have a good relationship of friends.

Miharu Kiryu

Kanshi often uses Miharu for various situations which often annoys Miharu. Despite that, both trust in the other's abilities and consider each other as brothers.

Momo Kuramochi

Both have a good relationship since Kanshi usually uses Momo to feel comfortable and relaxed.

Abilities

• Wind Magic: As a Tengu, Kanshi has the power to use magic to control the wind.
• Bird-Blackened Sky: Kanshi performs a handsign and summons a flock of crows that is friendly with to his position. He can speak with the crows that he summons to give them instructions and recieve information.
• Cloak: Kanshi summons a cloak that makes him invisible for seven seconds.

• According to Miharu, Kanshi has a Kansai accent.
