Kara Minami (南 (みなみ) 伽 (か) 羅 (ら) , Minami Kara^?) is a supporting character in Witch Watch series.

She's the best friend of Nico Wakatsuki and Kukumi Ureshino. It's later revealed that she is a priestess in charge of her family's shrine. She would create Shiki with the help of Nico, who would become her familiar.

Etymology

• The name Kara means "nursing/attending" (伽) (ka) and "gauze/spread out" (羅) (ra).
• Kara's surname Minami means "south" (南).

Appearance

Kara has short, flowing brown hair. She usually wears the high school uniform. At the shrine, Kara often wears a priestess's outfit. She usually uses a hair clip given to her by her mother, after creating Shiki he would use the clip to hide and accompany Kara.

Despite being physically similar to her stepmother, they are not related by blood, so their resemblance is a coincidence.

Personality

Kara is a good person with her friends.

She doesn't like that people are separated and judged only by their tastes or by their personalities, when this happens she tries to get closer to those people to become her friend as was the case with Kukumi and Nico. She doesn't like people who annoy others and those who try to take advantage of a situation for which she herself considers herself unpopular with guys.

History

After she was born, her birth mother would abandon her and her father, leaving him to raise Kara alone. After a while, Kara would meet Miyuki whom she would remember as her real mother until she later died.

Later, she Kara would help her father in the shrine.

In middle school, Kara would meet Kukumi who would become her best friend and they would be together from that moment on. Kara and Kukumi would enter Asurano High School where they would meet Nico and Morihito, seeing that Nico had no friends on her first day. Kara and Kukumi would invite her to go to a family restaurant to meet her.

Some time later, during a visit by Nico, Kukumi and Morihito to the shrine, Nico would perform a spell that would accidentally bring to life a figure that Kara had previously made being called Shiki who would become her familiar.

Kukumi Ureshino

They met in middle school, when Kuku was ignored by the rest of her classmates for being considered an otaku, which is why Kara would start talking to her and become her friend. Since then, the two have remained together.

Nico Wakatsuki

After discovering that she is a witch, she and Kuku would approach Nico to ask her out, showing the same gesture she had with Kuku years ago. After that, both would become close friends, so they would tell each other all their secrets. Later when Nico would become a child, Kara was one of the first to want to see Nico since she missed her, hugging her and declaring that she would never let her go.

Shiki

At first, Kara felt uncomfortable with Shiki's presence, as he would appear unexpectedly. However, over time, Shiki and Kara would develop a genuine friendship and earn a place in Kara's life. Currently, Shiki often accompanies her everywhere, hiding in her hair clip.
