Kuon Shiranui (
Kuon is the homeroom teacher of the class 2-4 for Asunaro High School and the next head of Shiranui Clan, one of Kitsune's familiar clans. He's the youngest of the group of familiars who once escorted Ibuki Wakatsuki.
Etymology[]
- The name Kuon means "long time/old story" (久) (ku) and "distant/far" (遠) (on).
- Kuon's surname Shiranui comes from Shiranui which is an optical phenomenon which consists of small ghostly red flames that appear in the sea.
Appearance[]
Kuon has long hair, a spot on his right cheek, and cross-shaped earrings. He wears a black shirt with long sleeves and white bands forming an x which each contain strange patterns, he also wears prayer beads.
In his youth, he used to have long hair.
Personality[]
Kuon is a person who is seen as someone who has a hidden past like that of the protagonist of a finished manga since he behaves as if he has experienced several traumatic events throughout his life.
Kuon is a calm person who gets carried away by his past, having flashbacks about it on a recurring basis. He usually gets along well with others and is loyal to his closest friends.
History[]
Kuon was born into the Shiranui family, a distinguished clan of kitsune kin who are proud of their roots and value their heritage more than other clans. From a young age, Kuon was forced to undergo intense training in order to become the leader of said family.

At 11 years old (20 years before current events), Kuon would be contacted by a witch named Tamaki due to a job that only Kuon could do, in this mission Kuon would meet Reiji, Kakuraibo, Ibuki and Taiga with whom they embarked on a mission to stop the Jura's resurrection.[4] In that mission, Kuon had a traumatic confrontation with Jeanne D'Arc[5] in which Kuon would lose his powers and Taiga would die, so he carries prayer beads to honor their memory.[6]
During his time as a college student, she used to meet with a friend named Moko Utakata who used to listen to his stories and write them down to create her own story as she aspired to become a mangaka.[7] He has a teaching license, which he uses to supervise Morihito and the other familiars responsible for the witch of thousands.
At some point, Kuon would attend the funeral of Reiji's wife.

Although at first they did not usually get along much, over time they became closer with Kuon attending the funeral of Reiji's wife.

Although Ibuki and Kuon didn't get along at first, over time they became friends. Nowadays, despite not speaking regularly, Ibuki trusts him enough to send him prophecies so he can communicate them to the Otogi family.

After Migirijima's mission, Kuon would lose his powers so he is currently still recovering, currently having half of his original power.[8]
- Illusion Magic: Kuon has the ability to perform illusions and make other people see them if he allows them to. Using these illusions he can reproduce his own memories.
- Fire Magic: Kuon is capable of casting fire Magic.
- Wards: Kuon is a master of wards, so he can store any spell in them.
- Kuratoinari World Opening Gate: As a Kitsune, Kuon uses this technique to open holes in space. This technique can be used anywhere.
