Ogres (
The ogres are descendants of a mix between the Bulls Familiars (
Overview[]
Ogres tend to be very indifferent to their surroundings, worrying about themselves.
Most ogres tend to have a selfish personality and superiority complex but unlike werewolves, ogres are very competitive and hate to lose.
Due to this pride they will continue fighting even if they do not have the strength to continue or have a numerical disadvantage. Currently the only known clans of Ogres are the Otogi clan and the Otake clan.
In ancient times they used to have horns, which with the passage of time and the weakening of their familiars were losing.
They used to have a rivalry with the tengus, this rivalry lasted generations and both species used to kill each other[4]. Currently this rivalry has managed to calm down, there are still cases where Tengus and Ogres often compete like Kanshi and Morihito.
History[]
Around the year 1600, the witches would arrive in Japan together with a familiar with horns, this familiar would be similar to the legend about the ogres in Japan, which is why they would begin to be called in this way.[3]
Centuries ago, familiars acquired the ability to take human form and interbred with humans. The ogre race eventually became more human in appearance due to generations of interbreeding.[1]
After a while the ogres were hunted by humans leading them to extinction forcing them to live in mountains and forests.[3] The persecution of humans meant that only the Otogi and Otake clans survived.[5] During this time the ogres distanced themselves from the witches.[3]
During the end of the Tokugawa shogunate, the ogres were forced to help the witches during the great mage war causing the eradication of the warlocks. After this war the ogres returned to relate to the witches as their familiars.[3] The relationship between ogres and witches would last until the present time.
Abilities[]
- Ogre Qigong Fighting Arts: It's a kind of martial arts that is considered as a tradition among ogres and must be taught in every generation.[6]
Weaknesses[]
- Beans: Ogres have a weakness for beans, however this weakness is occasional and is only limited to Setsubun, at that time if an ogre is inside a house and someone says "out with the oni" while tossing beans on them can cause serious damage, this is described as an electric shock running through their body.[7]

- Otake Clan (
大 嶽 一 族 Ōtake Ichizoku?) is a clan of ogres known for being one of the few clans that survived the human hunt. The Otake along with the Otogi, fought in the Great Mage War alongside the witches.
- The Tsunotora's clan was a clan known for being descendants of the first ogres who arrived in Japan fleeing witch hunts in distant lands. Currently extinct.
- The Asuka's clan was a clan of ogres born during the exile of the ogres due to the hunting of humans towards them, this being the reason why most of them did not know of their former relationship with the witches and their occupation as familiars. Currently extinct.
Trivia[]
- According to Morihito, the Otogi clan is the last remaining Ogre clan,[9] although it was later discovered that Ran is also an ogre and the only known survivor of the Otake clan.
