Ran Otake (
Ran is a hybrid of an ogre and a warlock, as an ogre Ran belongs to the Otake clan and as a warlock he was known as the Undying Witch (
He was the main antagonist of Autumn Storms Arc and one of the main antagonists of The Day of the Disaster Arc. He used to work alongside Shikimi, Komugi, Tokiyo and Rabuka until he would lose his immortality, after that Ran stopped working with the warlocks so he's currently traveling around the world eating ramen.
Etymology[]
- The name Ran means "storm/tempest" (嵐) (ran).
- Ran's surname Otake means "big/great" (大) (oo) and "peak" (嶽) (take).
Appearance[]
Ran is a tall person, usually wearing a hood and a necklace in the shape of a fang. His hair is two colors and is long. On his forehead, near his eyebrows, Ran has two red marks that resemble ogre horns.
In the past he used to wear clothes similar to the current one but his hair was shorter.
Personality[]
Ran is a grateful person with everything he does, such as thanking all the people who collaborated in making his food. He is usually very patient and ignores anything he doesn't like. Even though he may seem friendly he really is a serious person if he gets angry enough or if he has a goal in mind.
When he fights seriously he is usually blood thirsty so he fights with everything he has.
Due to his immortality, a lot of time has passed alone, which has made him become insensitive towards others, caring little about people. Loneliness has also made him develop a feeling of death, making his goal to die.
History[]
Ran would be born in 1860 as the son of Mogari Otake and the Undying Witch[5] who would die giving birth to Ran, Ran would be raised in the mountains by Mogari who would die some time later due to an accident in the mountains.
After that Ran will live alone in the mountains until when he is old enough he will go to a town where he will live 90 years.
After a while he would travel to find Reiji Otogi and challenge him to a battle, he finds Reiji and he takes him home to introduce him to Morihito with whom he would fight and train Ogre Qigong, Ran would spend two weeks at the Otogi's house and then he would leave, not without first leaving the payment corresponding to the time he would stay. Some time later a man who knew about Ran's magic would approach him to propose the mission of resurrecting Jura.[6][7]
Years later, Ran would return to the city and call Morihito so that the two of them could reunite and fight together again. After their fight, Ran would become one of Morihito's enemies.

Mogari Otake[]
Ran lived with his father in the mountains due to their status as fugitives. Although Ran felt that he was only a burden on his father and that he never loved him, the reality is that Mogari taught him survival techniques showing that he cared about his safety.
Uzu[]
Due to the condition that only one Undying Witch can exist, Ran would never meet Uzu.

Morihito Otogi[]
Ran would meet Morihito when Ran would go to confront Reiji Otogi at his house. Ran would face Morihito as training who would end up having a great friendship and brotherhood. Seeing that Morihito had what Ran longed for, Ran would end up leaving the Otogi house. After joining the plan to resurrect Jura, Ran would have to face one of the familiars of the Witch of Thousand who would be his former friend. By revealing his true intentions to Morihito, he would cut ties with Ran. According to Ran, he considers Morihito as a younger brother.[8]
Abilities[]
- Ogre Qigong Fighting Arts: Being an ogre, Ran can handle Ogre Qilong techniques, thanks to his strength and speed he can dodge his opponent's attacks with great ease and can also deliver blows strong enough to kill someone.[9]
- Brighteyes: It's a technique developed by Mogari Otake. It's a technique that uses experience as a strong point. It allows you to see through the target, showing all its weak points and attacks through blind spots, it also allows you to see hidden enemies. The technique depends on the user's skills as well as speed and decision-making ability. The more experienced the user is in combat, the better the technique will be used.[10][11] There's an improved version which also allows it to see the strength remaining on the target and also improves reflexes.[12]
- Magic Barrier: Ran can use this spell that forces the opponent to stay in place until Ran removes it.
- Inmortality Magic: Having inherited his mother's magic, Ran can regenerate at a high speed but age at a slow rate. Immortality magic allows the user to revive the dead and use them as puppets, to revive someone it is necessary to have a part of that person's body like a bone.
