Yumejiro Asuka (飛鳥 (あすか) 夢 (ゆめ) 路 (じ) 浪 (ろう) , Asuka Yumejirō^?) is a supporting character in Witch Watch series.

He was an ogre during the edo period. Centuries later, he and other ogres would train Morihito Otogi.

Etymology

• The name Yumejiro means "dream/vision/illusion" (夢) (yume), "path/route/road/distance" (路) (ji) and "wandering/waves/billows" (浪) (rou).
• Yumejiro's surname Asuka means "fly/scatter" (飛) (asu) and "bird/chicken" (鳥) (ka).

Appearance

Yumejiro has long hair that manages to cover his right eye. He has his hair tied up in the back.

He usually wears a triangular pattern hakama with a dark colored yukata and he usually wears sandals.

Personality

He is a calm and carefree person who hates violence and especially fighting, living like a coward, preferring to flee from battles. He invented a technique that would allow him to escape from them as well as from debt collectors (this being his main reason). Although he usually appears calm, he can become serious when training others.

History

Yumejiro was born in 1758, during the edo period, so he lived escaping from humans and taking refuge in the forest and mountains. Due to this, he does not seem to have knowledge about his past as familiars of the witches or their relationship with them.

Many years later, he would write in the book of martial arts to guide his descendants.

• Ogre Qigong Fighting Arts: Being an ogre, Yumejiro was an expert in Qigong creating his own technique.
