Yuri Makuwa (真 (ま) 桑 (くわ) 悠 (ゆう) 里 (り) , Makuwa Yūri^?) is a supporting character in Witch Watch series.

She was the homeroom advisor of Class 1-3 at Asunaro High School being the teacher in charge of Morihito, Keigo and Nico. Currently, she's the homeroom of Class 1-2 being the teacher of Miharu, Furan, Rui and Aika.

Together with Kukumi Ureshino, they formed a group called Fave Artist File focused on making fanfics about Uron Mirage.

Etymology

• Her name Yuri means "permanence/distance" (悠) (yuu) and "village/parent's home" (里) (ri).
• Yuri's surname Makuwa means "real/genuine" (真) (ma) and "mulberry" (桑) (kuwa).

Appearance

Yuri wears a pair of glasses. At work, she usually wears formal clothes such as a suit, blouses, and heels.

She usually wears her hair down, although she usually ties it up when it's night. She is considered by her work colleagues to be a beautiful person and is incredibly popular.

Personality

Although she tries to hide it due to her professionalism, she is secretly an otaku and is heavily involved in the fandom of her favorite series Uron Mirage. She considers herself as a "true fan" of the series, and reading weekly chapters of her favorite series is akin to a sacred ritual for her. She is prone to long internal monologues when analyzing the story, characters, and even fanworks (e.g. fanart posted by Haimi on Chitter).

Initially ashamed of her passion for manga, she later opens up about her interests as she forms a friendship with her student and fellow fan Kukumi Ureshino. However, other attempts to connect with more "casual" fans who have a different interpretation of the series have left her disappointed and alienated. This experience becomes a driving force for her to start writing fanfiction with a perfectionist touch, as she likes everything to be in accordance with her own canon interpretation of the series.

History

During her student days, she liked to read manga, so she would try to make friends who shared her hobby. Seeing that her classmates thought she was weird, she would learn that she shouldn't tell anyone that she is an otaku.

After meeting her favorite artist, she and Yuri have been drawing chapters of a fanfic manga of the Uron Mirage characters under the name of Fave Artist File (オシエシニッシ, Oshieshi Nisshi^?), with Yuri being the one who write the story.
